The Outer Banks straddles two counties in Northeastern North Carolina.
Currituck County starts at the Virginia State Line (on Highway 168) and continues down to the Wright Memorial Bridge (on Highway 158.) It also spans across the Albemarle Sound and includes the northern section of Barrier Islands known as Corolla, and Carova (accessible by 4-wheel drive only.)
